Although October is breast cancer awareness month, Minot State University students have decided that January would provide the perfect opportunity to raise awareness and show their support towards breast cancer research. On Jan. 15, the MSU’s Department of Athletics will hold a “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” night. The event will take place during the men’s and women’s basketball games against Jamestown College, starting at 5:30 p.m.
The athletics department is hosting the event in conjunction with the Student Activities Committee. The event will raise awareness on campus and provide opportunities to celebrate those who have won the battle against breast cancer.
A well-known breast cancer survivor will be the honored guest at the game. Between the women’s and men’s basketball games there will be a meet-and-greet with the survivor. In addition, games and prizes will be given out throughout the evening, along with a 50-50 raffle. The money raised from the event will go entirely to the American Cancer Society.
The Student Activities Committee is under the Student Government Association, the student governing body at MSU. The committee puts on activities for students and provides fun entertainment throughout the year.
